Medical Accessioning Specialist

The Medical Accessioning Technician plays a vital role in the laboratory setting, responsible for receiving and processing patient specimens. This includes verifying patient information, labeling specimens, and entering data into the laboratory information system. The technician must adhere to established procedures and maintain accurate records.
Key Responsibilities- Receive and process patient specimens
- Verify patient information and specimen labeling
- Enter data into laboratory information system
- Follow established procedures and protocols
- Maintain accurate records
- Communicate with laboratory staff and healthcare providers as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures
- Ability to follow established procedures and protocols
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills
The Medical Accessioning Technician may be required to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds. The technician must have good manual dexterity and visual acuity.
Working ConditionsThe Medical Accessioning Technician will work in a laboratory setting with exposure to biohazardous materials and chemicals. The technician must follow established safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
