Job Title: Manager In Training

Job Summary:

The Manager In Training is an associate who is on a direct training plan to become a General Manager. This role is responsible for performing General Manager duties in the absence of the Regional Manager and working in one or more store locations at the direction of the Regional Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Acquire and maintain customers through excellent customer service and sales skills.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local statutes.
  • Meet company standards for quality, customer service, and safety, as well as documentation requirements.
  • Meet sales and revenue goals by implementing marketing and growth plans.
  • Provide a safe and clean environment for customers and associates.
  • Train and develop associates to ensure effective store operations.
  • Perform basic furniture, appliance, and home electronics installation and removal, including inside and outside service calls.
  • Protect all company assets and maintain a professional showroom with proper pricing and merchandising.
  • Reconcile daily transactions and act as a customer liaison to resell the benefits of timely rental/lease agreement renewal payments.
  • Manage customer accounts and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
  • Effective organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Established selling skills and good communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in person and over the phone with employees and customers.
  • Must be able to negotiate and resolve conflict in a professional manner.
  • Plan, organize, delegate, coordinate, and follow up on various tasks and assignments.
  • Recognize and solve problems in a timely and effective manner.
  • Must have proficient navigational skills with a satisfactory driving record and meet insurability requirements.
  • Regular and consistent attendance, including nights and weekends as business dictates.
Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience providing the necessary skills and knowledge is acceptable. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to an Associate or Bachelor's degree with coursework in business, accounting, marketing, or management, and two years' experience in retail or other business emphasizing customer service, account management, or merchandising.

Physical Requirements:

The position routinely requires lifting, loading, moving, and using a dolly for merchandise pounds. Stooping, bending, pulling, climbing, reaching, and grabbing are also required. Must be able to traverse multiple flights of stairs while carrying furniture, appliance, and electronics. Prolonged driving and standing are also required. Must be able to work in and outdoors in a variety of climates and weather conditions.
