Job Title: Part-Time Financial Services Specialist

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, Inc. is seeking a part-time Financial Services Specialist to join our team. As a Financial Services Specialist, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to clients, preparing tax returns, and ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of tax preparation services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit and train qualified VITA program volunteers and seasonal staff.
  • Stay updated on tax regulations and IRS guidelines.
  • Conduct annual training using the IRS Link and Learn Taxes e-Learning software and pass all certification exams required by the IRS.
  • Ensure the intake process includes the use of an intake sheet for every return, a quality review is being conducted, privacy is being maintained, and each return is identified with the site's identification number.
  • Resolve any tax return issues that occur during the transmission process and electronically file all returns in a timely manner.
  • Prepare tax returns, provide quality review, answer tax questions, and schedule tax appointments.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients throughout the process, including scheduling, paperwork, answering tax questions, and follow-up with clients as needed.
  • As a site coordinator, this position oversees all aspects of site operations, supervises seasonal staff and volunteer preparers, tax filing efforts, and ensures quality service for each of our tax clients.
  • Facilitate the efficient and effective delivery of tax preparation services for clients.
  • Ensure VITA site's compliance with all 10 IRS Quality Site Requirements (QSRs).
  • Verify that proper volunteer coverage is scheduled, and that supplies, publications, and equipment are maintained and available at their assigned VITA site.
Requirements:
  • Level of knowledge normally gained through completion of an undergraduate degree.
  • Two years of accounting experience, tax knowledge, and tax law training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and TaxSlayer (or willing and able to learn).
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to coach and train individuals on different products.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
