Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the Principal and Building Administrator, along with direction from the Head Custodian, the individual will carry out essential custodial tasks and responsibilities for the school district. All custodial staff are expected to effectively perform the key duties outlined in this job description. Specific responsibilities for day and night custodians will be assigned by the District Custodial Supervisor(s) in collaboration with the Building Principal/Administrator and Head Custodian.

Reports To: Building Principal or Administrator, Head Custodian.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Grounds Maintenance: Regularly remove litter and debris from school grounds, ensuring playground equipment is safe and well-maintained.
  • Lighting Management: Replace burnt-out bulbs, ensure lights are turned off in unoccupied rooms, and maintain cleanliness of fixtures.
  • Custodial Duties: Perform daily cleaning tasks in various areas including entrances, classrooms, restrooms, and cafeterias, ensuring a hygienic environment.
  • Restroom Sanitation: Conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection of all restroom facilities, ensuring they are well-stocked and presentable.
  • General Maintenance: Assist with minor repairs, monitor building systems, and maintain cleanliness in mechanical and custodial areas.

Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with substantial custodial experience. A valid driver's license and a Low Pressure Boiler License are advantageous.

Physical Requirements:
The role demands physical stamina and mobility to perform various tasks in diverse weather conditions, including lifting and moving materials up to 50 pounds.

Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with custodial operations, safety practices, and the ability to effectively communicate with staff and the public are essential for success in this position.
