We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Media Center Assistant to join our team at Henry County Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional support to the Media Specialist and ensuring the smooth operation of the Media Center.
Key Responsibilities- Assume responsibility for the Media Center in the absence of the Media Specialist, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.
- Assist the Media Specialist in maintaining a well-organized and attractive Media Center, including the operation of electronic circulation systems and the maintenance of media equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and faculty, assisting with the location and utilization of Media Center resources.
- Collaborate with the Media Specialist to acquire, process, and circulate media equipment, as well as maintain and repair Media Center materials and equipment.
- Support the Media Specialist in creating engaging displays and programs, and assist with the maintenance of periodical collections.
- Operate the school's electronic distribution system and utilize satellite reception equipment, ensuring seamless communication and access to resources.
- Serve as the first point of contact for technology-related inquiries and provide support to students, staff, and faculty.
- Attend regular meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and best practices.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal and Media Specialist.
- High School Diploma or state-approved high school equivalency (HSE) required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
- Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Paraprofessional License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, and strong professional reputation.
- Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance, with the ability to be present at the physical worksite.
- Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting, as well as routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
- Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
