POSITION SUMMARY

As the Senior Sales Manager for the Western Region of the U.S., your main objective is to devise and implement sales strategies that stimulate revenue growth for the organization. Your responsibilities encompass managing and nurturing customer relationships with brokers and retailers to ensure optimal representation of the company's products in the marketplace and the achievement of sales objectives. Additionally, you will oversee budgets and expenditures within your designated territory, remain informed about market trends and consumer preferences, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support new product launches and marketing initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Formulate sales strategies and marketing plans for designated geographic areas to enhance current market sales and explore new business opportunities through various distribution channels.
  • Consult with retailers, brokers, and distributors on sales and advertising execution.
  • Deliver compelling sales presentations and negotiate programming with key clients to implement brand strategies, utilizing consumer insights to inform customer decisions.
  • Manage the business plan to achieve volume, profit, and market share goals by leading the joint business planning process and developing trade promotion strategies.
  • Direct sales forecasting activities and establish performance objectives accordingly.
  • Ensure effective representation of company products in the market and maximize outcomes through strong broker guidance and relationship management.
  • Monitor market trends, assess sales activities, and analyze competitor actions and products.
  • Assist with product supply forecasting and evaluation of new business segments.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and budgets for senior management on a monthly basis.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A Bachelor's degree in business or a related field from an accredited institution is required, along with a minimum of 8 years of experience in CPG Industry sales and marketing.
  • Proficient in conducting meetings with senior-level customers and managing trade spending and volume.
  • Understanding of CPG supply chain and customer negotiations, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Experience in negotiating with and managing distributors, as well as large CPG retailers.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire for knowledge and action, and extensive CPG account management experience with relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Strategic thinker capable of identifying sales opportunities and providing recommendations for customer distribution enhancement.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to meet and set objectives.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as company Field Sales Modules, Business Databases, Syndicated Data, and external customer systems as required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of management, both internal and external.
  • Valid driver's license.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English are essential.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as probabilities and statistical inference for annual sales forecasting and budgeting.
  • Ability to utilize fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical business situations.
  • Ability to identify problems through data collection and analysis, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret graphs and a wide variety of technical sales instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage various abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to use hands, arms, and fingers.

  • Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds may be necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is typically in an office setting or at customer/user locations.
  • The noise level in the work environment is generally light to moderate.
  • This role requires travel to meet business needs, with at least 25% of the time spent visiting customers, brokers, and distributors.
