Position Overview:

Assists residents with daily living activities while promoting their independence under the supervision of licensed staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains confidentiality regarding residents, their conditions, and family matters
  2. Adheres to established policies and procedures, upholding high standards and practices
  3. Assists with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and toileting needs
  4. Ensures residents have clean, dry linens and makes beds as needed
  5. Encourages proper nutrition during meal and snack times
  6. Administers resident treatments as directed by the Head Nurse within the nursing scope of practice
  7. Observes and accurately records resident information, reporting any changes to the Head Nurse
  8. Actively engages in the planning of resident care
  9. Facilitates daily living activities according to the resident's service plan
  10. Conducts resident lifts and transfers in accordance with the service plan and Lift Free Program
  11. Prepares, administers, and documents medications as prescribed by physicians and in compliance with certification regulations
  12. Performs additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
  1. Ability to frequently lift and transfer 30 pounds of resident weight (approximately 15 times) throughout the shift
  2. Capability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn consistently during an eight (8) hour shift
  3. Strong organizational skills and ability to execute sequential tasks
  4. Current certification as a Medication Technician is required
  5. CPR certification and basic First Aid are preferred
  6. Genuine motivation and desire to work with elderly individuals
  7. Proficient in English to ensure effective communication with residents
  8. Ability to read and write in English to fulfill care plan responsibilities and provide appropriate resident care
  9. Preferred to be listed on the state registry as a Nursing Assistant within 120 days of employment, with an expectation to complete the Homewood GNA class
Physical Demands:

Must be able to consistently remain on their feet during an 8-hour shift; bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently while performing regular duties. Must be capable of lifting up to 30 pounds of resident weight and/or transferring and repositioning a resident at least 25 times during the shift. Must be able to respond swiftly and decisively in emergencies and in reaction to unexpected resident behavior during lifting or repositioning. Must be able to manage the physical transfer of residents from unsafe to safer locations in emergencies. Ability to perform sequential tasks effectively.
