Job Description

A Day in the Life of a Simulation Operations Specialist:

As a Simulation Operations Specialist at Memorial Hospital of Laramie County, you will provide administrative support to the department head and department. Your responsibilities will include assisting in various projects, providing support with administrative and related services, gathering essential data, and preparing operational and statistical reports as requested.

  • Assists in the planning, preparation, and execution of simulation-based healthcare training and educational events throughout the organization and the community

Here Is What You Will Be Doing:

  • Prepares correspondence, reports, forms, vouchers, and specialized documents related to the department as assigned from drafts, notes, brief instructions, or corrected copy; proofreads materials for accuracy, completeness, compliance with departmental policies, formatting, and correct English usage, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Performs difficult, complex, technical, and/or specialized office support work, which requires the exercise of independent judgment, the application of technical skills, and a detailed knowledge of the activities and procedures specific to department operations.
  • Participates in phases of data entry and collection as needed, as well as some analysis including design and planning, and presentation.
  • Collaborates with others to improve operational efficiencies throughout the clinical education team.
  • Aids in hiring process for new graduate nurses into the nurse residency program.
  • Utilizes technology such as Microsoft office, excel, and other LMS systems to assist in the issuance of educational programs.
  • Assists in scheduling, student enrollment, payment for all certification courses and educational programs.
  • Participates in work teams and committees utilizing knowledge base to identify and assist with data needs; contributes ideas for improvement.
  • Manages online educational platforms such as the current LMS and web-based courseware and assists other educators in furthering their programs using this technology.
  • Collaborates with the simulation coordinator and educators to plan, design, implement, schedule, and host simulated learning activities.
  • Applies best practices to increase high and low-fidelity simulation activities to match learning objectives and enrich the learning experience.
  • Coordinates simulation setup, breakdown, programming, and ongoing maintenance of simulation manikins and audiovisual equipment to include cleaning and replacement of parts, networking issues, additional medical equipment, and inventory management.
  • Prepares and applies moulage for simulated scenarios.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology/ basic human anatomy

Here Is What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree
  • Two or more years of healthcare experience
  • Wyoming LPN or CNA license; or Wyoming EMT license or National EMT (NREMT); or Medical Assistant certification
