Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Corewell Health. As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating patients by performing and interpreting clinical laboratory tests.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including calibration, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Perform and interpret clinical laboratory tests, including blood counts, chemistry tests, and microbiology tests.
- Prepare and analyze patient specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
- Document and communicate test results to healthcare providers.
- Assist in maintaining an efficient and effective laboratory operation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as medical technology or laboratory science.
- 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is preferred.
Working Conditions
- Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with frequent deadlines.
- May be required to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends.
- May be exposed to hazardous materials and chemicals.
