Job Title: CTL Specialist

The Cellular Therapy Laboratory at Children's National Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CTL Specialist to join our team. As a CTL Specialist, you will play a critical role in the development and manufacturing of novel cell therapy products for clinical trials and to treat patients diagnosed with otherwise incurable diseases.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform manual and automated cell processing, cell expansion, and other assays in dedicated lab space, clean room environments, or process development labs.
  • Develop and implement new CTL protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with the coordination of logistics, including purchasing and shipping of miscellaneous equipment and products.
  • Participate in the management and operation of the lab, including training new staff and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct scientific projects related to product manufacturing or product development, including epitope mapping, immunofluorescence, and IHC assays.
  • Handle instruments required for assays and perform calculations for infusion cell doses, viabilities, dilutions, and cell concentrations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with regulations and follow procedures/policies implemented by study sponsors.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in basic science or a related field (required); Master's degree in biology or a related field (preferred).
  • 4-5 years of experience in a clinical lab or GMP/GLP setting (required); 1 year of supervisory experience (preferred).
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, bend, stretch, climb ladders, stand for long periods of time, etc.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing cellular therapy products, aseptic processing, cell-based assays, and strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with others, wear all PPE, and follow procedures/policies and adhere to all documentation requirements.
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist certification, MT (ASCP) (preferred).
Working Conditions:

The CTL Specialist will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with frequent exposure to chemicals, biological agents, and other hazardous materials. The ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and management is essential.
