Job Summary

Corewell Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist Lead to join our team at the Dearborn Hospital. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Chemistry Lab, ensuring the highest quality patient care, and providing leadership and guidance to our laboratory staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the overall supervision of the laboratory department, including daily operations, quality, process improvement, instrument maintenance, and staff training and competency.
  • Assist with management of the laboratory in the absence of the Manager.
  • Review, evaluate, and coordinate quality assurance, quality control, proficiency testing, and maintain documentation records.
  • Assist in quality variance investigations and the development of process improvement initiatives.
  • Function as a technical resource for instruments and department procedures/policies.
  • Oversee instrument troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical procedures.
  • Coordinate methodology and instrument evaluation and validation studies.
  • Create and administer employee orientation, education, training, and competency assessment on test methodology, section policy, and instrumentation.
  • Coordinate clinical education programs for medical laboratory science students, residents, fellows, and medical students.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with 16 semester hours in biology and 16 semester hours in chemistry.
  • Completion of a clinical laboratory approved or accredited program by NAACLS or at least three months documented laboratory training in each specialty.
  • A minimum of 2 years direct technical experience in an accredited, licensed laboratory.
  • Completion of an accredited clinical internship or equivalent experience/training as required by the Board of Registry.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
Working Conditions
