Job Title: Mental Health Specialist

Miami Children's Museum Inc is seeking a skilled Mental Health Specialist to provide emotional and mental health support to children, families, and staff.

Job Summary

The Mental Health Specialist will provide individualized support to children, families, and staff, addressing emotional and mental health needs. This role requires a strong understanding of child development, mental health principles, and community resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional and mental health support to children, families, and staff
  • Consult with teachers and staff to develop and implement interventions to promote academic success and reduce behavioral and mental health issues
  • Offer individualized support and guidance to staff, students, and families
  • Facilitate individual, group, or family sessions to address social, emotional, mental health, and learning needs
  • Develop and administer behavior contracts and other intervention strategies as needed
  • Engage in effective communication with parents to foster strong relationships
  • Provide consultation in crisis prevention and response
  • Respond to crises and determine when referral to an outside agency is necessary
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions, meetings, and referrals
  • Act as a subject matter expert and advisory resource to program staff
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage, and Family Studies or equivalent
  • Registered in Florida as a registered Clinical Social Work Intern pursuing licensure preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in social services and knowledge of community services required
  • Strong verbal and writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must pass a Level 2 background screening and drug test
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certified
  • Reliable transportation to travel to 5 program sites
