Position: Licensed Practical Nurse

Overview:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering nursing care to residents while overseeing and mentoring clinical staff members.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately documents residents' health status and nursing requirements.
  • Timely and effectively executes physicians' directives.
  • Delegates nursing responsibilities to team members based on residents' needs and individual competencies.
  • Supervises and assesses the performance of junior staff and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments to assigned residents, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
  • Participates in training and orientation programs for new personnel.
  • Ensures efficient use of supplies and maintains a clean, safe environment.
  • Records and communicates significant observations and responses related to residents.
  • Coordinates nursing care for residents undergoing therapy or procedures in other departments.
  • Involved in the recruitment process, including interviewing candidates and making hiring recommendations. Participates in staff counseling, disciplinary actions, and terminations as allowed by state regulations.
  • Oversees the nursing unit, including scheduling and directing nursing staff as permitted by state laws.
  • Maintains inventory and supplies on the unit and communicates needs for housekeeping, maintenance, or dietary support.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Proficient in leading and inspiring team members.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills with residents, families, and all organizational levels.
  • Capable of making quick and informed decisions in emergency situations.
  • Knowledgeable in training methodologies for clinical personnel.
