Job Title: Community Clinical Educator Job Summary: At Lutheran Senior Services, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care and services to older adults. As a Community Clinical Educator, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our clinical care team members receive the education and training they need to provide high-quality care. Responsibilities: * Serve as a member of the Clinical Education Council and participate in council activities, such as the LSS Annual Symposium * Provide education and training at assigned LSS communities or communities designated by the Clinical Education Council * Deliver an orientation program that includes assessment and skills validation to ensure each new team member is adequately prepared to perform their assigned clinical role * Support clinical practices related to documentation using the Electronic Health Record (EHR) during the orientation process and ongoing as identified by staff requests, supervisor recommendations, and/or periodic audits * Monitor and evaluate clinical education needs in collaboration with assigned community leadership * Coordinate education with other LSS departments for community-required training, such as safety and HIPAA compliance * Monitor, evaluate, and deliver clinical education accordingly in preparation for annual state surveys * Deliver clinical education to address items identified by state surveyors both annually and as needed * Serve as an informational resource for a specific area of expertise, such as dementia training, infection control, fall prevention, etc. * Participate in the Clinical Education Council and other committees related to education and other training initiatives * Assist with identifying educational needs both system-wide and at the community/service line levels; work with the Director of Clinical Education on the development of formal curriculum to meet the needs of both the individual community and/or LSS system * Participate in the design and development of education and training for all clinical direct line, supervisory, and leadership employees * Remain current on all training requirements per regulatory agencies, as well as all clinical tools utilized by an LSS clinician, such as glucometers, medical equipment, etc. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: * Current Registered Nurse license; BSN preferred * Previous experience in presenting and coordinating training programs in long-term care preferred * Must be CPR BLS (basic life support) certified with the American Red Cross * CNA and CMT instructor training preferred * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Very good communication and organizational skills * Basic computer skills, including Internet and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: The physical activities, demands, and working conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is willing to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. The employee is subject to exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B virus within guidelines of standard precautions. Appropriate ergonomic and personal safety equipment is provided as needed. The employee must have the ability to walk continuously; push 250lbs, generating 50lbs of push force simulating pushing a shower chair; push a wheelchair with a load of 200lbs; transfer a 50lbs load from a wheelchair to a surface at the same height; reach to a height of 72 inches; lift/carry 50lbs and push/pull 45lbs.
