Job Title: Instructional Assistant - Extended Day Program

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Instructional Assistant to join our Extended Day Program team. As a Roving Sub, you will be responsible for implementing approved academic and enrichment class activities, providing a safe and nurturing environment for student achievement, and performing various clerical support duties related to classroom activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement approved academic, enrichment, and recreational activities for students, providing homework assistance and instructional support.
  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for student achievement, promoting a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
  • Prepare and organize instructional materials to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Collect, maintain, and input attendance data into the assigned school program database.
  • Monitor students in the classroom and computer lab, supervising students during recess and sports activities, and guiding them into safe play activities.
  • Assist students in developing communication skills, enhancing character traits, and serving as an appropriate language model.
  • Coordinate the distribution of snacks to students, ensuring a healthy and happy environment.
  • Perform routine first aid and seek assistance for non-routine illnesses or injuries.
  • Prepare, collect, and maintain a variety of records, logs, notes, and files, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Assist in the collection, preparation, and maintenance of screening and assessment data, supporting student progress and achievement.
  • Communicate with school site staff regarding student participation, ensuring seamless collaboration and coordination.
  • Attend meetings and sessions with designated staff to discuss issues or concerns, promoting open communication and problem-solving.
  • Maintain the classroom in a safe, sanitary, and orderly condition, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Communicate with personnel and parents to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns, fostering strong relationships and partnerships.
  • Inventory and replenish classroom supplies as needed, ensuring a well-stocked and organized learning environment.
  • Operate a variety of audio-visual, office, and instructional equipment, including a computer and assigned software, ensuring efficient and effective use.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience working with children in an organized setting.
  • Ability to secure a valid first aid certificate within 30 days of employment.

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to various school sites across the district. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
