Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in mechanical systems and operations maintenance. As a Mechanical Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for performing inspections, overhauls, maintenance, and repairs of various mechanical, electrical-mechanical, and hydraulic systems and equipment at various facilities throughout the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical-mechanical, and hydraulic systems and equipment.
  • Conduct inspections and troubleshoot issues with mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Perform overhauls and repairs of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as pumps, valves, and motors.
  • Assist in the installation and retrofits of new equipment and systems.
  • Supervise and train entry-level staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Formal mechanic training program and a minimum of two years of related experience.
  • Valid Massachusetts Class D Driver's License.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Work Environment

This role requires working in a variety of environments, including outdoors and in confined spaces. The employee must be able to lift and move heavy equipment and materials, and work at heights. The noise level in the work environment is very loud in field settings and moderately loud at pumping stations.
