Job Summary:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist at Kaiser Permanente Southern California Region is a clinical leader who partners with operational managers to ensure safe and effective care delivery. The role is built around five key subcomponents: Leadership, Consultation, Research, Education, and Clinical Practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements area of specialty competency criteria for outcome monitoring of staff.
  • Provides coaching and counseling to nursing staff and other healthcare providers.
  • Participates in management to provide 24-hour clinical leadership, developing standards of practice, policies, and procedures for a specialty patient population.
  • Evaluates clinical practice in areas of specialty to ensure community and professional standards are met.
  • Manages high-risk patients in the area of specialty to achieve safe, high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three years of experience in the area of specialty.
  • Clinical master's degree in nursing, in the area of specialization.
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist Certificate (California) and Registered Nurse License (California).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical Nurse Specialist experience.
