The University of Iowa is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Colorectal Care Physician Assistant to join its esteemed Department of Surgery's Gastrointestinal Surgery division. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the advancement of surgical practices. About the Position

This Advanced Colorectal Care Physician Assistant will serve as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring seamless coordination of patient care. Key responsibilities include conducting thorough pre-operative evaluations, developing personalized treatment plans, and performing procedures such as anoscopy and incision and drainage of abscesses.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients undergoing Colorectal Surgery, considering individual needs and circumstances
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes, including admissions, pre- and post-operative management, and referrals
  • Document patient information accurately and efficiently, adhering to relevant regulations and guidelines
  • Participate in educational initiatives to enhance knowledge and skills, staying up-to-date with best practices in Colorectal Surgery
Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for this Advanced Colorectal Care Physician Assistant role:

  • Hold current registration and licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners
  • Be certified by the NCCPA and maintain active certification
  • Possess an active DEA license or be able to obtain one prior to hire

  • Substantial knowledge of Colorectal Surgery principles, including physical assessment, differential diagnosis, and pharmacology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and patients
  • Strong organizational abilities, prioritizing tasks to ensure efficient workflow
  • A willingness to adapt to new situations and learn from experiences

The estimated salary for this position is $140,000-$200,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
