Overview

AVStar Fuel Systems, Inc. is seeking a skilled Fixture and Tool Designer to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing process, you will be responsible for designing and developing tools and fixtures that meet the highest standards of quality and precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop tools and fixtures for the manufacturing process, including horizontal and vertical mills, 5-axis machining centers, lathes, and grinders.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality departments to gather information necessary for fixture design.
  • Verify the proper fit of fixtures on equipment and ensure that they meet the required specifications.
  • Produce detailed drawings and documentation for all fixture designs, including GD&T tolerancing and Bill of Materials.
  • Obtain quotes for components and specialty items, such as vises, tooling columns, and inspection handles.
  • Maintain an updated job log for fixture numbers and descriptions, including fixture number, part number, operation number, and machine.
  • Store all completed fixture designs, 3D models, and prints on the specified network drive.
  • Design CMM fixtures using 3D models, parts, prints, and inspection sheets.
  • Produce operational sketches for machining purposes, including part and operational specific details, machining sequences, and travelers.
  • Create drawings for specialty items that support workflow and machining processes.
  • Develop facility drawings, including 3D modeling of machines and equipment, floor layouts, evacuation plans, and new floor plans for construction projects.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Technology preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the design from concept to finished product of fixtures, tools, parts, and gages.
  • Regular, physical on-site attendance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in the application of GD&T.
  • Experience with 3D Modeling CAD Systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with engineers, quality members, and machinists.
  • Safety and Security - observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
