Water Resources Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Resources Engineer to join our team at Stantec. As a key member of our Environment Services program, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in water resource engineering, including assessment and design for aquatic habitat restoration.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct desktop and field studies to support water resource engineering projects, including dam removal, culvert replacement, flood risk assessment, coastal resilience, and stream restoration and enhancement.
- Prepare and write documentation and engineering design materials, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
- Collaborate with scientific disciplines to provide holistic solutions for our clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Drafting skills, including experience with AutoCAD software and Civil 3D.
- Good understanding of mathematics and engineering mechanics.
- Ability to creatively apply technical knowledge and perform fieldwork.
- Attention to detail, positive attitude, and desire to support team success.
- Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and experience with surface water hydrology and hydraulics.
- Experience working and recreating in and along waterways.
- Experience and interest in hydraulics and river mechanics is a plus.
- BS or MS degree in civil or environmental engineering discipline.
- EIT certification required.
- PE preferred.
- 3 years of experience.
This is a multi-disciplinary position that requires strong knowledge of civil/environmental engineering practices and principles, as well as understanding and appreciation of biological and ecological science. Candidates must have strong writing and communication skills and should be familiar with relevant civil engineering software. Five to ten years of experience with experience and interest in hydraulics and river mechanics is a plus.
Flexible Location: Any New England office location will be considered depending on candidate experience. Northampton, MA is preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Travel requirements are flexible.
