BASIC FUNCTION AND QUALIFICATIONS

This recruitment aims to establish a one-year eligibility list for current vacancies and substitute opportunities in Malibu. Positions typically require 8 hours of work per day, Monday to Friday, for 11 months each year.

Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (40 hrs/week)

ROLE OVERVIEW
Under direct supervision, ensure the safety of students, staff, and property at assigned locations; enforce state laws and school regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
A high school diploma or recognized equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of professional experience in law enforcement or security.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • A valid California Driver License and the ability to obtain transportation between job sites.
  • Valid First Aid/AED Certificate and CPR Certificate.
  • Completion of a 24-hour "School Security Guard Training" certificate.
  • Experience working with students in an educational environment is highly desirable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor campus entry points to maintain the security of buildings and grounds.
  • Observe students during transitions to ensure timely return to classes.
  • Patrol campus areas, including lunch zones, hallways, classrooms, restrooms, and parking lots to uphold order and security.
  • Enforce school and district regulations for the safety of all individuals on campus.
  • Report unusual activities or behaviors, unauthorized individuals, and hazardous conditions.
  • Provide information and assistance to visitors.
  • Document incidents and daily activities through detailed reports and logs.
  • Inspect school property for vandalism, theft, or fire hazards.
  • Manage crowd control during campus events.
  • Assist law enforcement and emergency personnel as needed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Understanding of applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Principles of investigation and documentation.
  • Security methods and crowd control procedures.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
WORKING CONDITIONS

This role involves exposure to various indoor and outdoor environments, including potential confrontations with hostile individuals. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, running, and navigating uneven surfaces.
