Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CANS District System Support Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of staff in a business function, division, or department, and will play a key role in ensuring the effective implementation of the CANS assessment process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the CANS Assessor unit operations to achieve project goals and objectives for services delivery by monitoring budgets and caseloads, consulting with staff on case issues, approving leave and conducting unit meetings.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with CANS program policy and procedures.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to agency staff, leadership and the community related to the Texas Child-Centered Care System, placement process and CANS assessment.
  • Supervise a unit of DFPS CANS Assessor staff, including hiring and training.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to the CPS Program.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration and management.
  • Ability to manage business function, division, or department activities.
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives.
  • Ability to devise solutions to administrative problems.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures.
  • Ability to prepare reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to supervise the work of others.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
