Your Role:
Are you eager to be part of a diverse and collaborative team that partners with Federal Agencies to address urgent environmental threats and safeguard public health? This position may be ideal for you. Our team of scientists, engineers, GIS analysts, and technical specialists has been instrumental in supporting the U.S. EPA's Superfund Technical Assessment and Response program for over 25 years. Our office in the Atlanta area specializes in environmental consulting, engineering, regulatory compliance, sustainability, and the investigation and remediation of severely impacted sites throughout the Southeast. We also provide direct emergency preparedness and response support to the U.S. EPA in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical assistance for preparedness, removal actions, hazardous waste management, site investigations, and air quality monitoring.
  • Plan and execute field events, including multimedia sampling and data collection, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive reports and deliverables utilizing GIS technologies.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment and work independently when required.
  • Support emergency response on-call activities, with a commitment to respond within a mandatory 3-hour timeframe.
  • Travel periodically to manage or assist field teams during environmental emergencies across the south central U.S.
  • Facilitate effective communication with team members and clients, providing technical training and demonstrations as needed.
  • Produce clear, well-structured, and accurate technical reports, demonstrating proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Qualifications:
  • Proven knowledge and leadership in emergency response operations and environmental management.
  • Experience in counter-terrorism, public health, fire/hazmat, emergency medicine, and continuity planning is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with field environmental chemistry and hazardous chemical identification.
  • Experience in planning and executing work while utilizing various levels of personal protective equipment.
  • Willingness to mobilize on short notice during an on-call schedule.
  • Proficient in using field equipment and conducting sampling with electronic documentation systems.
  • Understanding of federal and state regulations, including CERCLA and OPA, is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • 40-hour OSHA training is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as an environmental first responder is preferred.
  • Advanced Incident Command System (ICS) training is preferred.
Education and Certifications:
A Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, physical science, ecology, sustainability, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in emergency response or environmental consulting.

Physical Demands:
This role may involve working in inclement weather and lifting up to 50 lbs, as well as using personal protective equipment, including respirators and SCBA.

Work Environment:
Work may take place in hazardous site conditions requiring HAZWOPER and other training.
