Cardiac Monitor Technician Part Time Only

The Cardiac Monitor Technician is a vital member of the healthcare team, responsible for monitoring cardiac rhythms and alerting nursing staff to any changes. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Monitor cardiac rhythms and alert nursing staff to any changes or abnormalities.
- Document rhythm interpretations and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate clerical unit functions to ensure smooth operations.
- Attend required training and demonstrate ongoing competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation.
- Evaluate telemetry patients and collect data on rhythm and changes.
- Obtain rhythm strips at admission, defined intervals, and during dysrhythmias.
- Notify RN of all changes in rhythm immediately.
- Adhere to cardiac monitor responsibilities and ensure constant observation.
- Recognize equipment malfunctions and take immediate action.
- Clean monitors and lead wires after each patient use.
- Summarize rhythm tracings and record outcomes of clinical review.
- Assist in performance improvement activities and serve on PI teams as warranted.
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED) required.
- 1 year of Patient Care Assistant/Unit Secretary (PCA/US) or LPN experience or similar clinical experience preferred.
- Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet time pressure and time lines.
- Must be able to perform in an exact and accurate manner.
- Must be able to use electronic mail, telephone, and texting.
- Includes possible exposure to human body fluids, disease, infection, lab chemicals, and hazardous materials.
- Requires wearing of common protective and safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, mask, gowns, etc.
- Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to reach reasonable distances in any direction.
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, sit, stoop, and lift.
- Must be able to run in an emergency.
- Must be able to move fingers in a coordinated manner and must be able to feel and perceive temperature, texture, shape, and size with fingertips.
- Must be able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must possess stamina to work prolonged shifts.
- Must possess perceptual speed to quickly recognize changes in monitor patterns.
- Must be able to make precise coordinated movements of hands and fingers to use the electronic measuring system.
