Director Engineering Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement business and technology roadmaps to drive sustainable profitable growth.
  • Interface with shared services within the organization to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Contribute to the overall financial performance of the business unit.
  • Lead a team of engineers responsible for developing and managing hardware and firmware systems, Windows desktop applications, Android and Linux embedded applications, and Microsoft web-based services.
  • Develop and manage engineering processes and projects for products, manufacturing, distribution, and support.
  • Collaborate with other groups and divisions to execute product, support, and financial goals.
  • Oversee and sponsor Rapid Continuous Improvements (Lean Initiatives) to drive cost out and improve productivity and quality output.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for engineering.
  • Meet financial and growth commitments set by the business unit strategic plan.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 15 years of previous engineering experience.
  • 10 years of previous managerial experience.
  • Strong team building and leadership skills.
  • Experience developing or managing development of hardware systems, hosted web-based systems, desktop application systems, and embedded systems.

Travel Requirements: 5-10% including internationally.
