About the Role

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is a leading institution in cancer research and treatment, seeking a skilled Cytogenetics Technologist II to join our team. As a certified professional, you will play a critical role in performing cancer genomic laboratory procedures, ensuring accurate clinical reports, and contributing to the development of new diagnostic testing methods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform benchwork, analysis, and reporting of genetic or genomic assays with high accuracy and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the validation and implementation of new or improved processes, and assist in the development of quality management and quality control procedures.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and leadership to troubleshoot equipment and assay issues, and provide guidance on technical issues within your area of expertise.
  • Assist with the orientation and training of new lab staff, and contribute to the continuing education of staff through presentations and resource investigation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field.
  • At least three years of experience in a Cytogenetics/genomics lab, or completion of a formal certified training program in Cytogenetics/genomics and two years of work experience.
  • Certification as CG(ASCP)CM or MB(ASCP)CM, or international equivalent, with ongoing documentation of continuing education comparable to ASCP programs.
  • Solid knowledge of Cancer Genomics of hematological disorders and related diagnostic testing.
  • Strong communication and computer skills, with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
