Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Robotics Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our robot manipulation system. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing novel algorithms for motion planning and manipulation, as well as developing software to integrate with our robots.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement classical and machine learning-based motion planning and manipulation algorithms to handle a wide range of food types and properties.
  • Develop algorithms to learn ingredient properties on-the-fly and adapt manipulation parameters accordingly.
  • Integrate new sensor data, such as force control and cameras, to optimize trajectory planning and performance metrics.
  • Analyze manipulation performance across ingredients and optimize trajectories for maximum throughput.
  • Contribute to the overall software architecture design and standards, including interfaces between subsystems.
  • Ensure high-quality, well-structured, and well-tested code, championing engineering excellence throughout the team.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest robotics research and apply insights to our system in a practical and innovative way.
Requirements
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and testing robust robot manipulation solutions deployed on real robots.
  • Experience leading and shipping complex software projects, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • 5+ years of experience in Python and/or C++ programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of classical and machine learning approaches to robot manipulation, including tradeoffs between various techniques.
  • Experience with robotic waypoint generation, path planning, and trajectory smoothing.
  • Experience with common deep learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Excellent software engineering fundamentals, including design patterns, testing, and code review.
  • Excellent mathematical skills, particularly in geometry, probability, statistics, linear algebra, and machine learning.
Bonus Points
  • Experience working in a startup environment, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities that come with it.
  • Proven track record of shipping working products under tight deadlines, with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience with robotics research, including publications in reputable journals and conferences.
  • Experience with trajectory optimization, including techniques such as model predictive control and reinforcement learning.
  • Experience with the robotics tech stack, including Linux, ROS, OpenCV, and CUDA.
  • Experience with calibration, state estimation, and sensor fusion.
  • Experience with basic mechatronics and electronics, including circuit design and PCB layout.
  • Experience leading projects and people in a technical lead or similar role, with a strong focus on team management and collaboration.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $130,000 - $225,000 per year, as well as a generous benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, commuter benefits, flexible PTO, catered lunch, and 401(k) matching.
