Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Education Specialist to join our team at Sylvan Learning - Southwest Texas. As an Education Specialist, you will be responsible for creating engaging learning experiences for students and evaluating their progress on each assignment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Delivery: Prepare for each instructional session, gather and prepare materials as necessary, and deliver instruction to students according to the design of the Sylvan programs.
  • Student Management: Manage students, tasks, and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session, and evaluate and record the progress of each student on their program assignment.
  • Communication: Communicate specific student needs to center staff, and attend periodic staff meetings and complete ongoing training as needed.
  • Program Knowledge: Complete certification training on each Sylvan program taught to students, and maintain knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension for reading teachers, and general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phones.

Requirements:

  • Education: Four-year degree or equivalent required, and state or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Skills: Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
