About the Role

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Facilities and Operations to join our team. This is a full-time position that will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and construction of new and renovated facilities, as well as managing the day-to-day operations of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for facilities management, including space planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee the design and construction of new and renovated facilities, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Manage and coordinate the work of architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and within-budget completion of projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and vendors.
  • Provide technical and management support to the Facilities and Operations team, including training and development of staff.
  • Manage and coordinate the maintenance and repair of facilities, including scheduling and budgeting.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for facilities management, including emergency response and crisis management.
  • Collaborate with other departments and units to ensure alignment with university goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as architecture, engineering, or facilities management.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in facilities management, including experience in planning, design, and construction.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, including the Florida Building Code and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as architecture, engineering, or facilities management.
  • Professional certifications, such as LEED AP or CFM.
  • Experience with project management software and other technology tools.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency principles and practices.
