The following outlines the primary responsibilities and expectations for the role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at First Choice Community Healthcare INC. This description is intended to provide a general understanding of the position and is not exhaustive of all duties and skills required.
A. POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for overseeing the quality of healthcare services and the clinical staff at FCCH. The CMO is tasked with assembling a proficient team of clinical leaders to ensure exceptional care delivery, foster a positive team culture, enhance provider productivity, and improve overall performance. Collaboration with executive leadership and dyad partners is essential to develop and implement innovative strategies and programs that align with FCCH's mission and strategic objectives.
B. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Direct the organization's medical strategies, clinical teams, and healthcare delivery systems.
2. Ensure the application of evidence-based practices and the effective assessment of clinical outcomes and performance improvement initiatives.
3. Provide medical services at designated clinic locations while maintaining a minimum Clinical FTE status.
4. Maintain a robust outpatient clinical presence, engaging with clinical teams to understand their needs and challenges.
5. Foster effective communication among healthcare providers, senior leadership, and governance to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives.
6. Contribute to the development and execution of the strategic plan and annual objectives for FCCH.
7. Recruit, train, and mentor Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other Advanced Practice Clinicians to ensure patient access and support organizational growth.
8. Participate in or lead clinical committees as assigned.
9. Develop and implement clinical guidelines aimed at enhancing patient access, improving outcomes, increasing clinician productivity, and reducing burnout.
10. Operate within a matrixed environment to ensure compliance with primary healthcare policies, procedures, and external regulatory standards.
11. Support the growth and development of health system service lines by collaborating with administration and physician leaders to enhance clinical operations.
12. Engage in the design and implementation of Value-Based Care partnerships and innovative care delivery models.
C. QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must possess an MD/DO degree with a minimum of 10 years of clinical practice experience.
2. Must meet all credentialing requirements set forth by FCCH.
3. Must hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the state of New Mexico.
4. An advanced business degree or formal executive leadership training is preferred.
5. Proven success in leading and facilitating physician groups within community or academic medical settings.
6. Knowledge of compliance issues relevant to community clinic environments.
7. Strong interpersonal skills with an understanding of diverse backgrounds.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
9. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
