Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the collection and processing of patient specimens, ensuring accurate entry of test requests and results.
  • Conduct comparative studies and establish new tests and equipment setups.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) and primary operator for departmental instruments and processes.
  • Ensure the highest quality of patient care within the laboratory.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Manage inventory and order necessary supplies.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff and leadership to meet the testing needs of all patients consistently.
  • Document and report any analysis errors that arise.
  • Provide operational leadership during scheduled shifts and offer feedback on personnel performance to assist supervisors and managers.
  • Support the training and education of new staff and students.
  • Assist management with competency assessments as required by SIH and accrediting bodies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Review records to ensure departmental quality standards are met.
  • Engage in accreditation activities within the laboratory.
  • Participate in personal and departmental goal-setting initiatives.
  • Uphold the privacy and confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Attend departmental meetings and other necessary gatherings.
  • Actively contribute to Lean initiatives by leading process improvement efforts within the department.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • MLT, MLS, or MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of technical experience in a laboratory setting.
