About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sports Performance Specialist to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a key member of our Sports Medicine department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing sports performance services that promote the health and well-being of our young patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community coaches, parents, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and physicians to establish referral patterns to our program.
  • Design, implement, and monitor age-appropriate injury prevention and performance enhancement programs for sports medicine clientele, schools, interscholastic teams, and community youth organizations.
  • Communicate with children on a level that they'll understand with instruction, cueing, and error correction.
  • Coordinate transition of student-athlete rehabilitation to performance training with sports medicine staff as needed.
  • Assist with coordinating, maintaining, and staffing of weight room and performance facilities; assist in identifying and purchasing needed equipment; assist in scheduling training for various athletic programs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a health or exercise related field, required.
  • Masters degree, preferred.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy.
  • CPR certification-required.
  • National Strength & Conditioning Association and/or American College of Sports Medicine certification-preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of related experience preferred, including working with athletic and youth populations.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of sports performance training methods and equipment.
  • Ability to lead large group training sessions.
  • Knowledge of OHSAA and NCAA rules and regulations.
