Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Supervisor to oversee the safety inspections of highway structures, including bridges, culverts, and ancillary structures. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and performing inspections, preparing and reviewing inspection reports, and maintaining inventory databases and files.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and perform safety inspections of highway structures, including bridges, culverts, and ancillary structures.
  • Prepare and review inspection reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain inventory databases and files, including updates and maintenance of new and historical inspection records.
  • Oversee final acceptance of new structures and administer consultant contracts.
  • Monitor and evaluate safety inspections performed by localities and private owners, and respond to emergencies.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of structural safety inspection regulations, policies, guidelines, and practices.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience in structural safety inspections and procedures.
  • Bridge inspection experience and successful completion of NHI training or NICET Level III certification in accordance with NBIS requirements.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, design, and construction related to roadway structures.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw logical conclusions, and develop recommendations.
  • Experience in staff supervision, program administration, and budgets.
  • Skill in the use of computers and software applications such as MS Office, PONTIS, and databases.
  • Knowledge of consultant contract administration procedures and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in bridge and structures inspection.
