The MIG Welder I will be responsible for assembling, fabricating, and repairing steel components utilizing specialized gas metal arc welding techniques and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembles, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable materials by employing suitable welding methods.
- Interprets technical drawings, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to identify the appropriate welding process.
- Evaluates completed welds to ensure structural integrity.
- Adheres to all safety regulations and protocols.
- May prepare materials and set up welding devices or robots.
- Completion of an apprenticeship and/or formal training in the specialty area may be required.
- Contributes to safety and quality initiatives by following established guidelines and processes.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Proficient in operating forklifts and cranes.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints.
- Skilled in using various hand tools such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, grinders, and banders.
- Competent in using measuring instruments like tape measures, box calipers, slide dial calipers, and micrometers.
- Adept at converting fractions to decimals and vice versa.
- Capable of converting metric measurements to English units.
- Delivers high-quality work to all internal and external stakeholders related to their role.
- Capable of setting up and operating one or more processing machines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Must successfully complete a MIG welder certification.
- Relevant apprenticeship, experience, or vocational training is preferred.
Work may involve exposure to various environmental conditions both indoors and outdoors, including but not limited to fluctuating temperatures, loud noises, and vibrations from equipment usage. Specific conditions include:
- Hazards: Exposure to physical conditions such as moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, high heat, or chemicals.
- Atmospheric conditions: Potential exposure to fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or inadequate ventilation affecting the respiratory system or skin.
