The following details outline the essential functions and expectations for the role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at First Choice Community Healthcare INC. This description is not exhaustive but provides a framework for the responsibilities and skills required.
A. ROLE SUMMARY
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for overseeing the quality of healthcare services and the clinical workforce at FCCH. The CMO is tasked with assembling a high-performing team of clinical leaders to ensure exceptional patient care, foster a positive team culture, enhance provider productivity, and drive performance improvements. Collaboration with executive leadership and dyad partners is essential to develop and implement innovative strategies that align with FCCH's mission and strategic objectives.
B. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Direct the organization’s medical strategies, clinical teams, and healthcare delivery systems.
2. Promote the use of evidence-based practices and ensure the effective assessment of clinical outcomes and performance enhancement initiatives.
3. Provide medical services at designated clinic locations while maintaining a minimum Clinical FTE status.
4. Maintain a robust outpatient clinical presence, engaging with clinical teams to understand the needs and challenges faced in outpatient settings.
5. Foster effective communication among healthcare providers, senior management, and governance bodies to ensure alignment with FCCH's strategic goals.
6. Assist in the development and execution of the FCCH strategic plan and annual objectives.
7. Recruit, mentor, and train Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other Advanced Practice Clinicians to ensure patient access and support organizational growth.
8. Participate in or lead clinical committees as required.
9. Create and implement clinical guidelines aimed at improving patient access, outcomes, clinician efficiency, and reducing burnout.
10. In a matrixed environment, ensure compliance with primary healthcare policies and external regulatory standards.
11. Support the enhancement and expansion of health system service lines by collaborating with administration and physician leaders to optimize clinical operations.
12. Engage in the design and implementation of Value-Based Care partnerships and innovative care delivery models.
C. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1. Must possess an MD/DO degree with at least 10 years of clinical practice experience.
2. Fulfill all credentialing requirements set by FCCH.
3. Must hold or be eligible for medical licensure in New Mexico.
4. An advanced business degree or formal executive leadership training is preferred.
5. Proven track record in leading and facilitating physician groups within community or academic medical settings.
6. Knowledge of compliance issues relevant to community clinic environments.
7. Strong interpersonal skills with an appreciation for diverse backgrounds.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
9. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
