Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab. Proficiency in PTCA and EPS is preferred, along with an AAS in RTR or RTN license. Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years of RTR or RTN experience is also acceptable.
Must complete a minimum of 12 CEU hours annually.
This role necessitates an understanding of the diverse needs and behaviors of various patient age groups, including recognizing typical adolescent behaviors and signs of aging. Previous experience with different age demographics is advantageous.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.
Ability to anticipate the needs of patients and the unit is crucial.
Must be capable of teaching procedures to staff members.
Current Illinois license as RTR, RTN, RCVT, or Paramedic (EMT P) is required, along with ACLS, IABP, and RCIS certification within two years of employment.
Ability to operate effectively in high-stress situations, lift and move heavy patients and equipment, stand for extended periods while wearing a lead apron (approximately 18 lbs.), and work flexible hours, including on-call duties.
Responsibilities:
All cath lab personnel must be able to respond to off-hour call-ins within thirty minutes of notification.
If the position involves direct patient care or contact, the following lifting requirement applies: ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently. For lifts exceeding 35 pounds, or when the patient cannot assist, patient handling equipment must be utilized with the assistance of at least one other associate when available. Unique patient lifting scenarios will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Purpose:
To deliver professional, highly technical nursing care to all cardiovascular patients while assisting physicians during various cardiovascular procedures. Serve as a liaison between patients, their families, and physicians. Aid physicians in operating technical equipment used throughout all procedures.
Accountabilities:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of cardiovascular procedures.
Engage in in-services, continuing education, and workshops to stay updated on new procedures and technologies.
Responsible for ensuring quality control in all lab areas.
Provide a secure and safe environment for patients and staff, maintaining constant awareness of safety hazards.
Assist in orienting new staff within the department.
Act as a role model and resource for all clinical activities within the department.
Contribute to the development of new operational procedures.
