Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Alfond Youth and Community Center is seeking an enthusiastic individual with expertise in obstacle courses to contribute to our community initiatives. This role involves the design, execution, and management of engaging programs within our NinjAdventure Zone. The Lead Ninja Adventure Coach will collaborate with team members to inspire community participation through activities that promote health and enjoyment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the Head Coach for the Ninja Adventure program.
  • Plan and conduct practice sessions that are age-appropriate, well-structured, and progressive throughout the season.
  • Teach and train participants on essential techniques such as climbing, strength training, and safe falling practices.
  • Foster a team environment that emphasizes Youth Development, recognizing effort and dedication over mere outcomes.
  • Assist participants in setting, assessing, and achieving their personal goals.
  • Organize and manage training sessions, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed promptly.
  • Engage with parents of Ninja Adventure participants to meet fundraising goals for team support and equipment needs.
  • Develop and execute strategies for participant recruitment and retention, including involvement in publicity efforts and regular team tryout events. Analyze enrollment trends for improvement.
  • Maintain all team equipment in optimal condition and ensure proper care of all resources.
  • Serve as the Lead Coach for any future AYCC Ninja teams that may be established.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow coaches to synchronize schedules and share effective training methods.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians, providing updates on participant progress and addressing any concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Relevant Ninja or Climbing certifications.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid, CPR/AED certification, and Narcan training.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years of coaching experience with youth or teens across various skill levels.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with Ninja or gymnastics-related equipment.

  • Ability to work independently, inspire others, and adhere to established procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to engage with staff and community members at all levels.
  • Capability to teach through comprehensive demonstrations of various Ninja techniques.

WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time; hours may vary, including potential weekend commitments.
