Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Alfond Youth and Community Center is in search of an experienced individual who excels in obstacle course training and is eager to contribute to community engagement. This role involves the development, execution, and management of exceptional programs within our NinjAdventure Zone. The Lead Ninja Course Instructor will collaborate with team members to promote health and enjoyment through various activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the Head Coach for the Ninja Adventure program.
  • Plan and lead practice sessions that are age-appropriate, structured, and progressively challenging throughout the season.
  • Guide participants in mastering techniques such as climbing, strength training, and safe falling practices.
  • Foster a team environment that emphasizes Youth Development, recognizing effort and dedication rather than solely outcomes.
  • Assist participants in setting, assessing, and achieving their personal goals.
  • Organize and manage training sessions, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed promptly.
  • Collaborate with parents to achieve fundraising goals that support Ninja teams and necessary equipment.
  • Devise and implement strategies for recruiting and retaining Ninja participants, including involvement in publicity and promotional events.
  • Maintain all team equipment in optimal condition and ensure proper care of all assets.
  • Serve as the Lead Coach for any future AYCC Ninja teams that may be established.
  • Coordinate with fellow coaches to align schedules and share effective training methods.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians, providing updates on participant progress and addressing any concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Possession of any Ninja or Climbing certifications.
  • Must have or be able to obtain First Aid, CPR/AED certification, and Narcan training.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years of coaching experience with youth and teens across various skill levels.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with Ninja or gymnastics-related equipment.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to work independently, inspire others, and adhere to established procedures.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong focus on safety.
  • Proficient in interacting with staff and members at all levels.
  • Capability to effectively demonstrate various Ninja techniques and movements.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Knowledge of proper safety equipment usage.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time; hours may vary, including potential weekend shifts.
