Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pathologist Assistant II to join our team at Confluence Health. As a key member of our anatomic pathology department, you will play a critical role in examining, dissecting, and processing anatomic pathology specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and performance of surgical specimen examination, including accessioning, obtaining clinical history, and preparing tissues for microscopic examination.
  • Collaborate with pathologists to describe gross anatomic features, dissect surgical specimens, and prepare tissues for microscopic examination.
  • Work closely with medical and lab directors to establish and maintain standards that prevent/minimize errors and maintain the highest quality while ensuring efficient turnaround times in the grossing area.
  • Perform pathology computer system related responsibilities, including report writing and generation, problem solving, and other tasks as necessary.
Requirements
  • PA (ASCP) or eligible (will pass within 6 months of hire) or relevant experience prior to establishment of certification.
  • Bachelor's degree and completion of a pathologist-approved Pathology Assistant training program.
  • Documented skills in performing routine Pathology Assistant functions, including preparation and performance of surgical specimen examination and proficiency in frozen section preparation.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced laboratory environment with exposure to hazardous substances, mechanical hazards, and infectious diseases.
