Job Title: Transition Assistance Advisor II

GAP Solutions, Inc. (GAPSI) is seeking a highly skilled Transition Assistance Advisor II to join our team. As a Transition Assistance Advisor II, you will play a critical role in providing support to transitioning service members, their families, and Veterans in accessing benefits and healthcare furnished under the laws administered by the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Job Summary:

The Transition Assistance Advisor II will provide information, coordination, and assistance to transitioning service members in the following Reserve Component benefits:

  • Employment Assistance
  • Health and Life Insurance
  • Financial Assistance
  • Disabled Veterans Benefits
  • Legal Assistance
  • Relocation Assistance
  • Physical/Mental Health VA assistance
  • Education and Training Assistance
  • State benefits

The Transition Assistance Advisor II will also perform outreach services, including social media and outreach marketing methods, to provide information and assistance to eligible Reserve Component Members and their family members and Veterans in understanding and obtaining benefits and services through Veterans Affairs and the military health system.

Responsibilities:

The Transition Assistance Advisor II will be responsible for:

  • Providing information and assistance to transitioning service members in accessing benefits and healthcare furnished under the laws administered by the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs
  • Coordinating with Veterans Affairs, TRICARE, Veteran Service Organizations, and other resources to provide required information and assistance
  • Participating in the mobilization and demobilization process to brief/advise eligible Reserve Component Members and their family members and Veterans on transition and information resources
  • Researching and resolving issues associated with transition when Reserve Component member and/or their family members encounter problems
  • Coordinating with Veterans Affairs centers to assist law enforcement, court systems, state mental health authorities, and fire departments with awareness concerning Reserve Component service members and Veterans that may need crisis intervention
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, the Transition Assistance Advisor II must have:

  • An Associate degree from an accredited college or university in social services, human resources, or a related field
  • Three years plus of equivalent experience in related fields such as Veteran's administration, social services, employment services, and human resources
  • A working knowledge of military protocols
  • Prior experience and knowledge of the following Transition Assistance Program activities is preferred:
    • Department of Veterans Affairs programs and policies, specifically Veterans Health Administration
    • Veterans Benefits Administration
    • National Cemetery Administration
    • TRICARE programs and policies
    • Pre and post mobilization entitlements/requirements
    • Medical hold over status
    • Active Duty Medical Extension (ADME) and Transition Assistance for Military Personnel (TAMP)
    • DoD Transition Assistance Program (DoDTAP) for Managers and Counselors web application
    • DoD TAP Database
    • Army ACAP XXI database
    • Air Force AFIRST database
    • Veterans Opportunity to Work (VOW) requirements
    • The Career Readiness Standards
    • CAPSTONE requirements
Preferred Qualifications:

The Transition Assistance Advisor II should have:

  • Prior military experience
  • Strong writing and verbal skills
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to pass and maintain Tier 1 clearance
