About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Solar Power Plant Design Engineer to join our team at JUWI Americas. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing solar power plants to meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Optimization: Develop and implement high-level system designs for solar power plants, including electrical systems and plant generation modeling.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to the Business Development team to respond to RFP opportunities and ensure that our designs meet the requirements of our clients.
  • Generation Modeling: Contribute to the improvement of generation modeling and collaborate with team members to ensure accuracy and optimization.
  • Operating Plant Forecasting: Contribute to the development of operating plant forecasting and performance reporting systems.
  • Financing Technical Support: Provide technical support for generation models and performance guarantees, and contribute new ideas and innovative methods.
  • System Optimization: Support system optimization efforts by critically analyzing current designs, equipment selection, specifications, and plant performance.
  • Performance Guarantee Analysis: Deliver performance guarantee analysis and provide technical input for operating plant performance testing and troubleshooting.
  • Cost Reduction and Design Improvements: Generate creative cost reduction and design improvements for application into new projects or test facilities.
  • Staying Current: Stay current on the latest design tools, methods, and cost reduction measures offered or deployed in the industry.
  • Automated Tools: Develop automated internal tools for improved design efficiency and performance.
  • Weather Station Equipment: Oversee, deploy, and maintain prospector weather station equipment and contribute to its design and data acquisition method.
  • Equipment Testing: Support on-going equipment testing on site and remotely, propose and support the testing and qualification of new equipment.
  • Long-term Research: Contribute to long-term engineering and operating plant research and apply lessons learned to latest designs.
Qualifications
  • Solar and Electrical Engineering: A solid understanding of solar and electrical engineering, production modeling, and power generation principles.
  • Solar Modeling Methods: Highly developed understanding and application of solar modeling methods, including PVSYST, SAM, PVCase, SolarGIS, or similar.
  • Data Analysis: Experience processing, analyzing, and summarizing large data sets.
  • Complex Situations: Ability to plan, coordinate, and analyze complex situations.
  • Education and Experience: Accredited university degree (electrical engineering preferred) and 5 or more years of PV plant engineering experience.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills, including software tools such as Matlab, Python, data acquisition systems, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to efficiently deliver information through various means.
  • Quality Assurance: Familiarity with quality assurance requirements necessary in an electrical and instrumentation installation environment.
  • Problem-Solving: The foresight, awareness, and ability to take the first steps to advance toward a goal, solve a problem, and/or pursue a new idea with or without direct guidance.
  • Exemplary Standards: Possess exemplary standards of honor, safety, management, ethics, quality, and productivity.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Tasks: Demonstrated efficiency in managing multi-disciplinary tasks.
  • Team Player: Team player, stress-resistant, with periodic project-related travel may be required.
Preferences
  • Utility Scale Interconnection: Familiarity with utility-scale interconnection process or grid network modeling.
  • Master's Degree: Master's degree in a technical field.
  • National Electrical Code: Familiarity with the National Electrical Code and National Electrical Safety Code.
  • NERC Requirements: Awareness of NERC requirements and design implementation.
