Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Neurology Physician Assistant to join our team at Prisma Health. As a key member of our medical staff, you will work under the supervision of a physician to provide quality treatment, referral, and follow-up care in a medical or hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough health histories and physical exams to identify patient needs and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic laboratory tests and radiological tests, including special testing such as CTs, MRIs, ultrasound, and contrast studies with physician approval.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, prescribing medication as necessary and in accordance with state licensing laws.
  • Refer cases to immediate supervising physician when patient conditions are complicated, exceed the Physician Assistant's limit of care or level of training.
  • Provide emergency care to prevent the loss of life, limb, or eyesight, and institute emergency procedures in accordance with level of training.
  • Support clinic function by participating in policy development, operational improvement, and the implementation of policies and improvements.

Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in a Physician Assistant program approved by an accredited medical body such as CAHEA, American Medical Association, or the Association of Medical Colleges.
  • Experience - No previous experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NCCPA certification and current Physician Assistant licensure in South Carolina.
  • BLS certification.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of medical conditions, diseases, and types of injuries; excellent communication skills.
  • National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Certificate of Added Qualification in Emergency Medicine - NCCPA CAQ in EM - Preferred.
