Job Summary

The Prisma Health Physician is responsible for providing high-quality medical services to patients. This includes diagnosing, preventing, or treating diseases, defects, or injuries, and recommending or prescribing treatments for the relief or cure of physical, mental, or functional ailments or defects.

The Physician will render medical treatment to patients consistent with generally accepted professional standards of care, without regard to their ability to pay for such treatment or their background. The Physician will also complete accurate, legible, and timely records of all medical examinations and procedures, using Current Procedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseases codes.

The Physician will provide after-hours call coverage equally with other physicians of the Practice, unless otherwise agreed upon. They will also comply with standards of accepted medical practice, managed care organizations, and other payors, including Medicare and Medicaid, and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

The Physician will enhance their clinical skills by maintaining sufficient continuing medical education to meet the requirements of their certification and/or state licensing board. They will also participate in non-revenue generating activities that advance the Vision and Mission of Prisma Health, such as serving on committees, community outreach, and helping to meet the teaching, research goals, and other activities as determined by the Department Chair.

The Physician will participate in responding to requests for proposals for managed care contracts, and assist in establishing quality assurance programs, utilization management programs, patient education services, and patient satisfaction programs.

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. The minimum requirements include a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, successful completion of residency, board certification or board eligibility, and medical staff privileges.

The required certifications/registrations/licenses include a South Carolina Medical License, South Carolina Controlled Substance License, and Drug Enforcement Agency Number. The required skills and experience include basic computer skills, knowledge of office equipment, mathematical skills, and specialty-specific skills.

This job requires a variable work shift, and is located at 9 Medical Park Rd Richland, with a facility at 3463 Pediatric Neurology 9 Med Park 110, and a department at 34631000 Pediatric Neurology 9 Med Park 110-Practice Operations.
