Supports the preparation and dispensing of all outpatient medication requests under the direct oversight of a licensed pharmacist. Responsible for restocking and managing pharmacy inventory. Actively participates in patient discharge processes through the transitions of care program, myPennPharmacy.

Capable of utilizing all equipment and tools necessary for the procurement, storage, preparation, and distribution of medications, including but not limited to computer systems, pill counting devices, cash registers, and associated charging equipment.

Successfully completes all required hospital and governmental validation assessments.

Key Responsibilities:


Precisely interprets and processes all outpatient medication requests, actively involved in the management and distribution of myPenn Pharmacy medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Assists the pharmacist with all third-party billing transactions. Conducts inventory checks and replenishes stock as needed. Ensures adequate inventory levels across all pharmacy areas and manages the storage of drug orders. Responsible for monitoring expiration dates of all inventory continuously and conducting annual inventory counts. Identifies and prepares outdated, damaged, or recalled products for return. Gathers necessary information for prescriptions, including insurance details, patient demographics, and eligibility. Provides assistance to customers with their inquiries. Accesses, inputs, and retrieves data from the computer system and operates available technology. Manages cash register operations, including cash, checks, and credit transactions; handles merchandise bagging, insurance signature logs, and directs inquiries appropriately. Responds to phone calls and customer questions, referring medical inquiries to the pharmacist.

Qualifications:
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required upon hire or within six months of employment.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED (Required). Previous experience in a retail pharmacy setting is preferred.
