Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in the laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical laboratory science and experience in non-waived testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties of a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) at a high level of competency, with a focus on operational leadership and workflow oversight.
  • Integrate technical knowledge and clinical relevance into daily activities to ensure high-quality results.
  • Provide onsite supervision and guidance to staff members, including scheduling, workflow management, and performance evaluations.
  • Assist in the implementation of new quality control and assurance procedures, as well as continuous quality improvement programs.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with accrediting agency and regulatory requirements for the laboratory.
  • Participate in the preparation for on-site accrediting processes and actively contribute to department and system quality assurance activities.
  • Assist with basic personnel oversight, including participation in selection, training, and development of staff members.
  • Coordinate and participate in special projects within the department or system, as well as other miscellaneous department duties.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or a related field.
  • MLS certification or categorical certification.
  • Two years of experience in non-waived testing in the designated specialty/sub-specialty area.
