A dynamic and experienced Field Hockey Program Director is sought to join the team at Academy Camps, a premier sports-specific sleepaway camp experience. Located on the picturesque campuses of Blair Academy (NJ) and Suffield Academy (CT), our camps offer an unparalleled opportunity for athletes to develop their skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.

We are looking for a visionary leader who can create and implement a comprehensive Field Hockey program that fosters physical, mental, and emotional growth in our athletes. As a key member of our senior-level staff, you will oversee the development and implementation of coaching strategies designed to support athletes in achieving their goals.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of program development and management, with a holistic approach to coaching that prioritizes the whole athlete. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as well as a goal-oriented mindset and creative problem-solving abilities. A growth mindset and willingness to receive and implement feedback are also crucial.

In return for your expertise, we offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with skills and experience. Our AC compensation package includes a salary range of $10,000 - $13,000 for a full summer commitment, which includes room and board on-site at Blair Academy. Additionally, there is an option to increase compensation through our Camper Referral Program, earning $250 referral bonuses for each camper enrolled.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement a one-week and two-week Academy Camps Field Hockey Program with coaching strategies designed to support athletes in achieving their goals.
  • Mentor athletes to foster athletic, emotional, and social growth.
  • Apply basic youth development principles in working with athletes and staff through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
  • Create an Academy Camps Field Hockey Athlete Evaluation process and form.
  • Complete the Academy Camps Field Hockey Athlete Evaluation for every athlete upon the completion of their given session (1 or 2-weeks) with the support of your coaching staff.
  • Support in the recruiting process to identify and hire your ideal coaching team.
  • Manage and mentor 1-6 coaches by providing responsibilities, regular feedback, and end-of-session staff evaluations.
  • Maintain the equipment and facilities to ensure safe playing conditions.
  • Participate as a member of the camp team to deliver and supervise electives, evening programs, special events, and other all-camp activities and camp functions, as needed.
  • Actively participate in all staff training & meetings.
  • Manage and coordinate any inter-league or inter-camp competitions.
