Medical Director, Medical Affairs

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Director, Medical Affairs to join our team at AbbVie. This is a key leadership role that will provide strategic medical input into core medical affairs activities, drive medical affairs input into and influence the development of asset strategy, and lead external stakeholder interactions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist medical and scientific strategic and operational input into core medical affairs activities, including healthcare professional/provider interactions, generation of clinical and scientific data, educational initiatives, and safeguarding patient safety.
- Work closely with marketing and commercial teams to provide strategic medical input into core brand strategies and to support medical/marketing activities.
- Drive Medical Affairs input into and influence the development of asset strategy, providing specialist medical insights and executing on data generation, communication, and expert engagement activities.
- Lead external stakeholder interactions, including healthcare professionals, patients, and payers.
- Develop and execute advisory boards, scientific and medical education programs, and provide scientific/medical education to internal stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with professional information and technology through conferences and/or medical literature, and act as a specific therapeutic area resource.
- Initiate research projects and drive them to completion, resulting in high-quality publications.
- Represent Medical Affairs in due diligence activities for the acquisition of assets aligned with the Disease Area Strategy.
- Ensure budgets, timelines, and compliance requirements are factored into programs' scientific activities.
- Leadership and oversight of assigned indications/projects in collaboration with Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, HEOR, and other functional areas.
- Strategic input into core asset strategy and drive medical activities in collaboration with Brand Teams and relevant cross-functional, area/affiliate medical teams.
- Initiation of medical affairs activities and generation and dissemination of data supporting overall product scientific and business strategy.
- Development of innovative research concepts for clinical data generation and provision of relevant scientific and technical training to internal teams globally.
- Scientific and technical support for assigned assets, delivery of scientific presentations, and development and maintenance of professional and credible relationships with key opinion leaders.
- Review, assessment, and reporting of applicable Adverse Events (AE's) and Serious Adverse Events (SAE's) if assigned to AbbVie conduct on clinical studies.
