Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist medical and scientific strategic and operational input into core medical affairs activities, including healthcare professional/provider interactions, clinical and scientific data generation, and educational initiatives.
- Work closely with marketing and commercial teams to provide strategic medical input into core brand strategies and support medical/marketing activities.
- Drive Medical Affairs input into and influence the development of asset strategy, providing specialist medical insights and executing on data generation, communication, and expert engagement activities.
- Lead external stakeholder interactions, including healthcare professionals, patients, and payers.
- Drive scientific communication initiatives, including internal and external medical education, data, guidelines, and value proposition.
- Lead and hold accountability for core medical affairs strategic deliverables in a matrixed team environment.
- Collaborate with Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, HEOR, and other functional areas to provide leadership, oversight, and support for assigned indications/projects.
- Work closely with Brand Teams and relevant cross-functional, area/affiliate medical teams to provide strategic input into core asset strategy and drive medical activities.
- Initiate medical affairs activities and generate and disseminate data supporting overall product scientific and business strategy.
- Develop innovative research concepts for clinical data generation and provide relevant scientific and technical training to internal teams globally.
- Provide scientific and technical support for assigned assets, deliver scientific presentations, and develop and maintain professional and credible relationships with key opinion leaders.
- Actively participate in relevant Asset, Development, and Pipeline cross-functional teams and drive the development of medical affairs objectives aligned with strategy.
- Review, assess, and report applicable Adverse Events (AEs) and Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) if assigned to AbbVie conduct on clinical studies.
- Lead the development and execution of advisory boards, scientific, and medical education programs.
- Provide scientific/medical education to all relevant internal stakeholders related to therapeutic area or disease-specific information.
- Keep abreast of professional information and technology through conferences and/or medical literature and act as a specific therapeutic area resource.
- Initiate research projects and drive them to completion, resulting in high-quality publications.
- Lead functional and cross-functional teams responsible for discrete projects within the specific therapeutic area.
- Represent Medical Affairs in due diligence activities for the acquisition of assets aligned with the Disease Area Strategy.
- Ensure budgets, timelines, compliance requirements are factored into programs' scientific activities.
