Pediatric Nurse Specialist Job Description

At Connecticut Children's, we are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a Pediatric Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to children and families in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct professional nursing care to patients and families in accordance with the standards of practice of a professional nurse, CCMC policies & procedures, TJC, and State & federal regulations.
  • Assume 24-hour accountability to plan and provide direct professional nursing care for specified patients throughout the entire episode of service delivery as defined by population and unit.
  • Participate in the leadership of the unit by functioning as the Resource Nurse and/or by participating in the professional development of others through preceptor/mentor activities.
Requirements:
  • ASN required upon hire. BSN preferred upon hire and required within 3 years of hire.
  • Preferred years PICU and/or adult critical care experience. Minimum 2 years of pediatric experience will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse licensure required and maintained thereafter.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR in adult, child & infant is required upon hire.
