About the Job

This is a general duty firefighting position performing emergency and non-emergency tasks in the areas of fire suppression, hazardous materials, technical rescue, fire prevention, emergency or disaster preparedness, as well as responding to emergency medical calls and performing skilled Basic Life Support (BLS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, performing firefighting, rescue, and medical services as needed.
  • Operate and maintain firefighting equipment, apparatus, and vehicles.
  • Participate in fire prevention and education programs, conducting inspections and providing information to the public.
  • Collaborate with other emergency responders, such as police and ambulance services, to ensure effective response to emergencies.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities to maintain and enhance firefighting skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Current certification as a firefighter/EMT at the IFSAC FF-1 level.
  • Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at the State of Washington level.
  • One year of verifiable experience as a firefighter/EMT at a single agency.
  • Excellent physical condition and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship, lawful permanent resident, or deferred action for childhood arrivals recipients (DACA) status.
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Age 21 or older by date of hire.
  • Washington State Driver License and ability to maintain such license for the duration of employment.
